Geology Major Iliana Solheim Featured in Provost Profiles

Video Profile Part of a Monthly Series

In the December edition of Provost Profiles, UH Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Diane Z. Chase visits with Iliana Solheim, a student who truly rocks 鈥 and loves to study rocks.

Solheim is a geology major in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, who also devotes her time to spotlighting our outstanding institution as a UH Advancement Ambassador. She also works at the University鈥檚 Cougar Cupboard, helping alleviate food insecurity on campus.

She was not a 鈥渞ock鈥 fan at first. Solheim met with UH advisors who helped her discover her interest in geosciences. It was this academic encouragement that launched a learning journey that鈥檚 taken her across the country to study geological formations alongside professors and peers.

Through the video, you鈥檒l see images from her time at the Geology Field Camp and other EAS activities. Her favorite place on campus is the Geoscience Learning Center. She plans to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in energy geosciences to study climate change and the energy transition.

Her mantra is one we can all learn from: 鈥淔ollow your passion.鈥

Learn about Solheim鈥檚 UH experience in this issue of Provost Profiles.
