After more than three decades of part-time and full-time teaching in the Political Science Department, Bauer School of Business, and the Honors College, Terry Hallmark has retired from his role as an Instructional Assistant Professor. He will return to the Honors College as an adjunct professor in Spring 2026.
He teaches courses in ancient, medieval and early modern political philosophy, American political thought, American foreign policy, politics and literature, and energy studies. He was the director of the Energy and Sustainability minor from 2018-2023.
Prior to his 2013 appointment in the Honors College, Professor Hallmark worked in the international oil and gas industry, where he had a 30-year career as a political risk analyst. He has been an adviser to international oil exploration and service companies, financial institutions and governmental agencies, including the World Bank, U.S. Department of Defense and members of the intelligence community.
He recently co-edited a festschrift in honor of William B. Allen, The Character of America: Celebrating the Semiquincentennial of American Independence (scheduled for publication in mid-2026).
