June is National Safety Month

UHPD The university鈥檚 police department hosts CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training which prepares individuals should they be confronted with an active shooter event. Learn more about CRASE training courses and how to register for the next one. The department also provides security escorts to campus community members who have safety concerns and would like to have a security officer walk with them as they make their way across campus. Campus community members who would like to use this service can call 713-743-3333. UHPD has also introduced a new texting service where campus community members can text UHPD at 713-743-3333.

Fire & Life Safety The Fire Marshal鈥檚 Office has two training courses available for the campus community, General Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher training. The department has a Bullseye Digital Fire Extinguisher Training System that allows participants to practice putting out fire without the need for an actual fire. Occupational Health Services The university鈥檚 Occupational Health Services departments鈥� aim is to promote the health and well-being of the campus community by preventing occupational-related disease, injury and illness. OHS offers American Heart Association Heart Saver CPR/AED trainings to all interested employees. The life-saving procedure is taught in a four-hour in-person course. Attendees will learn to recognize and respond accurately to cardiac emergencies. Learn more about the CPR/AED training and how you can enroll.
